Chennai Street Art Festival 2015

Organizer: Goethe-Institute Chennai/Max Mueller Bhavan & Chennai Corporation

Collaborators: School of Architecture and Planning (SAP) Chennai

The project or festival has been launched by the Goethe-Institute Chennai/Max Mueller Bhavan in collaboration with multiple city schools and corporations : Chennai City Connect, Corporation of Chennai, Southern Railways, SPI Cinemas, Paint Box, Spaces, School of Architecture & Planning-Anna University, Stella Maris College and YMCA College of Physical Education. The focus of this Indo-German and international cultural cooperation is  introducing beautiful art in public urban spaces.

The 150 foot long art was envisioned by the SAP team headed by Cibi Balakrishnan along with the Architecture students of SAP First Year. The main theme that was depicted was the Heritage of the campus and the city of Chennai.

On one side of the wall is the cultural heritage depicting the architectural, academic, social and cultural aspects of the campus. On the other side is the Natural heritage of the city depicting the four main biomes that can be observed along with its natural state of existence.

The primary technique adapted for the art is to camouflage with the existing lush greenery inside the campus.

Elements of Flora, fauna, academic and cultural activities of the buzzing campus is depicted on the walls of the Anna University campus through silhouette and bright coloring.
